As part of its New Year’s programming for January 3, 1993, Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK: Nihon Hoso Kyokai) telecast portions of the lengthy classic Yoshitsune sembonzakura (Yoshitsune and the Thousand Cherry Trees), including the travel-dance scene (michiyuki) known as “The Journey with the Drum” (Hatsune no tabi).This stunning dance piece is an example of the extraordinary offerings that Japan Broadcasting Corporation has been telecasting for the past 30 or 40 years.
