ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to examine how prejudices and stereotypes embedded in history, tradition and culture affect modern criminological theory. Specifically, this chapter will examine common stereotypes about Black females found in popular culture and criminological theory. We will assess whether or not and how popular culture stereotypes are incorporated into modern crimino-logical theory.
