ABSTRACT
Samuel Huntington, in his widely known “clash of civilizations” thesis, argues that in the period after the Cold War, the new fault line of conflict runs not between ideologies but rather between civilizations. Based on predominant religion, Huntington classifies societies into civilizations, and he specifically draws our attention to the potentially conflict-generating cultural differences between Western and Islamic civilizations. 1
