ABSTRACT

Periods of Migration and Geographical Concentrations The Hispanic American population constitutes the largest growing minority group in the United States (U.S. Census Bureau, 2000). Although Cuban Americans currently make up the third largest Hispanic American group in the United States (after Mexican Americans and Puerto Ricans; Therrien & Ramirez, 2000), they are one of the most influential minority groups in the history of this country. Through the years, Cubans have tended to migrate to the United States in definite periods of time, beginning with the 19th century with the first significant migration, and to current times.
