ABSTRACT
We are writing this chapter with three objectives. The first is to make a case for including sociopolitical development (SPD) and social-justice activism in scholarly work on civic development and youth development—with particular emphasis on psychology. The second is to present a theory of SPD and some related research findings. In the conclusion we will explore the implications of this work for enhancing youth-related policy.
