ABSTRACT
The relationship between intelligence and memory has been investigated mostly from the perspective of relatively short-term memory. This study focused on the relationship between intelligence and the longest-term memory, the individual’s reported earliest recollection. Age of earliest memory and three measures of intelligence were obtained from 66 university students. Significant relationships were found for two of the three measures of intelligence. Possible interpretations and related findings are discussed.
