ABSTRACT

The relationship between choices of leisure and individual life-style characteristics is of considerable interest. This study focused on an abbreviated measurement of social interest in individual early recollections as related to selected expectations of choices of leisure. Based on abbreviated social interest scores in early recollections, the two most extreme groups of 14 subjects (positive-active and negative-passive) were selected from an original sample of 400 college students. The expected choices of leisure were determined by responses to the Ego Recognition Future Scale and the Adventure Future Scale of the Leisure Activities Blank. Significant differences in expected choices of leisure were found between the two extreme groups of subjects for ego recognition but not for choices related to adventure.
