ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the functional and spatial production organization in the automobile and motorcycle industries in Vietnam during the transition process from central planning to market economy. Since the beginning of the 1990s, initial flows of foreign direct investment (FDI) have established the automobile and motorcycle industries in Vietnam. Import-substitution policies have been applied in order to attract FDI projects toward the protected domestic market.
