ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of a Leadership Foundation for Higher Education (LFHE) Fellowship project that aimed at developing the research culture of a small teaching intensive College of Higher Education. The College is in a period of change and development and is currently pursuing degree-awarding powers and university title which requires providing evidence of advanced scholarship and professional competence. The chapter explores issues that may have a significant impact on this process and proposes strategies to overcome barriers such as the limited resources available to staff and the pressures on time allocated for research and scholarship.
