Normalisation, emancipatory research and inclusive research in learning disability

In this article I reflect on the development of inclusive research with people with learning difficulties. The paper focuses on the way normalisation/social role valorisation and emancipatory research have influenced inclusive research in learning disability. It is important to acknowledge that these are not the only influences-one could readily cite feminist ideas, for example, or ‘new paradigm research’. I do not attempt to cover those here.
