ABSTRACT

The original impetus for this book started many years ago when as a practitionermanager, I was struggling to make ends meet, to respond to complaints about waiting lists and lack of speech and language therapy services. Editing this book has been part of my quest to develop my understanding of the issues involved in the decisions we make in planning and providing services to children. Throughout my research and underpinning this book, my position has been that practitioners develop understanding and expertise that, if unpicked and discussed, can inform a wider audience.
