ABSTRACT

France’s military establishment has been labouring under an all-volunteer format for the past four years – in a context marked by what has variously been termed ‘radical modernity’ or ‘post-modernism’, where multicultural diversity figures prominently. The time seems ripe for an early assessment of the trends such a major change has brought in its wake. Analysis of the issues relating to the management of diversity provides, for that purpose, a vantage point of choice.
