ABSTRACT
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is progressively taking over from Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CAD) as the way of representing information in building construction. Leading software applications are evolving from a drawing-based approach to using a model-based approach. In this chapter, key ideas about the organisation identification and classification of data within models are presented and their importance outlined.
