Studies of China’s Economy in the United States

With China’s rapid change and growing importance in the international arena, scholars from around the world have increasingly focused on studying China’s economy. Scholars with no previous training in Chinese or the case of China have propelled this trend. In a previous review of the literature on China’s economy, the majority of authors were China experts, with deep knowledge of history and culture, as well as the economy, and with the ability to read and speak the language.1
