ABSTRACT

Shared experiences and lifestyles in the East and the West, on the one hand,

and careful observation of the details of how people in both East and West

cope with life, on the other, will certainly lead us to discover and even

emphasize that East and West have much in common that has gone unrec-

orded for far too long. Here, however, I wish to focus on the question of

differences, possibly raising doubts about whether I had altogether under-

stood the title of this book.
