ABSTRACT
How did the social and economic conditions of the early Japanese migrants to Brazil determine their geographic location? And how has the location of these settlements affected the ideology and personal identity of today’s Japanese Brazilian community? The answers to these questions guide us to a fuller understanding of the complexities of today’s multifaceted and dynamic Japanese Brazilian community.
