ABSTRACT

This case study examines whole-of-university changes to promote learning and teaching that arise from quality assurance processes. The setting is Edith Cowan University (ECU), Perth, Western Australia, where changes have been driven by external and internal forces. Externally, increasing accountability requirements of the federal government and competitive changes in the higher education environment have influenced change. The University has been responsive to this changing environment, which has occurred concurrently with a greater internal focus on strategic planning and enhanced quality assurance processes.
