ABSTRACT
Most of the material entering industrial and social history collections in the region is donated. In subject areas which are widely seen as collectable, for example, (certain) ceramics, furniture, militaria, coinage and silver, donations are less likely. In these cases, purchase is more frequently the only way to acquire suitable examples for the collection.
