ABSTRACT
Many activities undertaken by museums are associated with registration and documentation procedures. They result in information held in various files and catalogues, such as inventory files, acquisition registers, object catalogues, etc. Traditionally the typical approach has been to maintain a register of acquisitions as a tool for inventory control, and card indexes or catalogues which have been compiled to document the collection.
