ABSTRACT
A few years ago I started teaching a course on the history of the 1960s. (I have to tell you it was a sobering moment-my generation was history now.) I thought I’d begin by asking my students what they remembered about the period, to see what personal experiences we had to work with. Turned out virtually none of them had been alive during the 1960s.
