ABSTRACT

The air was filled with expectation and excitement one sunny July day in 1985, as throngs of people gathered around Stornorrfors Dam to witness the annual spectacle. Organized by the Swedish electricity company Vattenfall, the event had become wildly popular and tended to draw crowds in the tens of thousands. This year’s Falls Day was no exception. People came from the nearby city of Umeå and from the surrounding region to watch the release of water from the dam.
