ABSTRACT

Like radical behaviorism, mentalism, physiologism and cognitivism are rather points of view, within the scope of which particular theories may be constructed, than theories themselves. As points of view, they differ with regard to the domain over which they extend. Mentalism, for instance, sees the domain of psychology as the inner mental life of human beings. A mentalist deals with behavior only as an indication or ‘ambassador’ of the inner mental world and denies the behaviorist’s claim that the proper sphere of psychology is the overt behavior of human beings and other animals.
