ABSTRACT
Concrete cover affords the protection against the ingress of aggressive materials from the environment into the concrete. However, as concrete is porous media, such materials as chloride ions and oxygen reach the surface of reinforcing bar by diffusing through pores in concrete and corrode steel bar. The permeation characteristics of concrete is one of the most dominant factors affecting the durability of concrete structure (Lawrence, 1984).
