ABSTRACT
In 1982 a joint CIB and RILEM committee (CIB W80/RILEM 71-PSL) on service life prediction of building materials and components was established. In accordance with the plans the initial programme was completed in 1985 and the results of the work was reported through CIB and by Masters (1986). A main result of the work, done by this committee, is a systematic methodology for the prediction of service life of building materials and components. This methodology was recently accepted as a RILEM recommendation, Masters, L.W. and Brandt E. (1989).
