ABSTRACT

Although what follows is a reconstruction of the first author’s personal history and process of becoming a psychotherapist, it emerged out of a series of discussions with the second author, who is currently an apprentice in the profession. As will be apparent, our discussions rendered a presentation that is both personal and reflective-characteristics that we felt would be compatible with the objectives of this book. We hope that the dialectic between mentor and apprentice-here rendered in the first person of the former-has lent itself well to serving the purpose of this volume.
