ABSTRACT

I shall begin by focusing on the similarities between dramatherapy and psychodrama, in terms of the broad principles of their foundation in drama. I shall then highlight the differences by taking a closer look at each method in practice, using sample sessions to illustrate the patterns and principles of each method. In the interest of clarifying major similarities and differences I shall not be able to do justice to the full range of personal styles and therapeutic orientations that create such diversity within each method. I shall inevitably generalise, and there are probably exceptions to each generalisation.
