ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we shall consider parental substance misuse from the dual perspectives of its impact on children in the family and the contributions of different specialists if child care proceedings should arise. Our purpose is to illustrate how parental substance misuse has an effect on the abuser and their family and that there is the need for liaison between child and adult psychiatrists in order to ensure that a coherent opinion is presented to courts.
