ABSTRACT

WHAT IS A PROTAGONIST? When Moreno describes the protagonist as an actor he intends it in the meaning of the one who enters into action. The word ‘protagonist’ when literally translated from the Greek means ‘the first into action’ or ‘the first in the struggle’. According to Greek mythology the god Protagonos’ name alluded to his being the first-born of all the gods. The protagonist in a psychodrama session is the person who is the main ‘performer’, the person who works on stage during the action phase of the group.
