ABSTRACT

It is, doubtless, a laudable aspiration to wish to help men change. It can be argued that men bear a large part of the responsibility for much that is harmful in the world, and if we want the world to be a better and less harmful place men must change. However, in considering issues related to how groupwork initiatives may help men to change, more than rhetoric is required. This chapter considers issues relating to preparing groupwork programmes for men, focusing in particular on issues relating to the relationship between ideology and the processes of selecting men for groupwork programmes.
