ABSTRACT

This contribution discusses the analysis of study programs of civil engineering in Slovenia, compared with those of the European Community. It shows the similarity and differences between mentioned programs that occurred in the last decade. Shown specifically are the modifications of study programs in Slovenia and the reasons for their change.

There are two main reasons why study programs of civil engineering have been modified in Slovenia. Firstly, the political system has changed and ideological barriers have been removed. As a result, classes with ideological themes (e.g. defence) have been replaced with those demanded by the market economy.

Some additional changes have been made to the existing programs to achieve compatibility with the educational standards of the European Community. Also, the new academic program (Industrial Civil Engineering) has been added to the university curriculum.
