ABSTRACT

Partly in response to public concern about unemployment and crime among young people, the British Sports Council, the government agency that oversees and funds sport programs in the UK, sponsored a national media marketing campaign designed to “sell” sport participation to young people. The main target population for the campaign was 14-18 year olds who were not involved in organized sport programs.
