ABSTRACT

It seems natural as I reflect today why I have a PhD in Educational Administration and Organizational Behavior. My dissertation (Hudson, 1985), and later book, How Educators Get Top Jobs: Understanding Race and Gender Differences in the Old Boy Network (Hudson, 1991), focus on the inequities of the nation's educational and employment systems. I feel pleased with these studies, knowing that I have added two more pieces of research to the store of literature on race relations and discrimination. The studies were conducted to help counter the lies, misconceptions and stereotypes that are so entrenched today in universal thought.
