It took me a long time to write my dissertation. I kept telling myself it was because I was working half time and sometimes more than half time as a teaching assistant, and that's why it was just going on and on. But from here, 15 or so years later, it's obvious that I couldn't finish the dissertation until that rather bad Hollywood film came out: Personal Best. Here's why.
