ABSTRACT
If modern architecture has an image in the popular imagination, it is one that conjures up an aesthetic of clean lines and machine-like construction. The International Style, whose image this is, represents the output of such architects as Walter Gropius, Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier, and Adolf Loos.
