ABSTRACT

There has been very little substantial research into the admittedly short history of the Green Party of Ontario and Canada (Lyon 1985; Sandilands 1992; HarriesJones 1993). At the same time, in a number of countries, there has been a move towards something of a retrospective look at the period that saw the birth of the environmental movement (e.g., Jamison et al. 1990). Part of this retrospection is due to a sense that the environmental movement has exhausted some of its initial momentum, and that now is a good time to pause and see where we have been, as a prelude (one hopes) to a new forward impulse (Braile 1994).
