ABSTRACT
This chapter is devoted to the Dutch school system. We shall present and discuss this system quite extensively and from different perspectives. The Dutch school system is unique in the world, but uniqueness naturally does not imply worth and value, nor a system which is unquestionable or unproblematic. We think we can elucidate some general questions about separate schools by focusing on our system and its history.
