ABSTRACT
In this chapter it is argued that the concept of patriarchy is not a suitable one to describe power relations between the genders. The concept “brotherhood” far more precisely encapsulates the dynamics of the relationship between men, and between the genders in modern society. At the same time it is this very brotherhood which, in these postmodern times, is undergoing great changes as women move into the traditionally male professions.
