ABSTRACT
Our story is about three colleagues who, for very different reasons, engaged in a collaborative self-study in a particular Internet environment known as a MOO. A MOO, mercifully short for Multiple user dimension Object Oriented, is an online computer environment that supports real time (synchronous) written conversations within a text based computer environment. Unlike email, its asynchronous cousin, when communicating using a MOO environment two or more individuals at different physical locations can meet on-line and conduct real time written conversations in which all participants can read and respond to what every other participant writes as soon as it is written.
