ABSTRACT
This chapter is concerned with one of the major monasteries of the medieval capital Polonnaruva, namely, the , a monastery which is significant for several reasons.
(a) The monastery constitutes one of the major excavation and conservation projects of the well-known UNESCO-Sri Lanka Cultural Triangle programme.
