ABSTRACT
Our concern essentially will be to focus on the political dilemmas that make issues of community and ethnicity problematic, and their interweaving with the linguistic code that governs public discourse. It will then be possible to outline prevailing approaches to theory and research as they appear in the Israeli literature since 1948, the year in which the State was founded.
