ABSTRACT
The Arabic word or name constitutes the major entry but this is heavily cross-referenced from the English. Cross references within entries are printed in Bold (sic) type, and the letters q.v. also appear after all but the most common like Muhammad, Qur'ān, Sura etc. The order of entries in this Dictionary is strictly alphabetical, except 'al-' is ignored at the beginning of an entry. In all cases the Arabic letters 'ayn and hamza (trans literated as ' and ' respectively) are ignored for purposes of alphabetization.
