ABSTRACT

In this chapter, four Irish lesbians look at lesbian activism in the 1990s. Izzy Kamikaze discusses the ‘sex wars’ in UK lesbian communities and at the interaction between lesbianism and feminism; Patricia Carey considers the development of lesbian activism in Ireland in the 1990s; Rosemary Gibney gives an overview of the issues and campaigns that are currently engaging Irish lesbian activists, and Kate Frances looks at the operation of lesbian helplines in Ireland.
