ABSTRACT
The three Nordic countries that applied for membership of the EU in the late 1980s —Sweden, Finland and Norway-share many similarities. However, in the field of energy they are entirely different. Energy policy has not figured as a prominent theme in the accession debates in general - only in Norway did it become a major factor in the spring of 1992.
