Artistic Statement
I was born in Kansas City Missouri, in 1941. My father was Cherokee. My mother was English and German. The easiest way to explain it is that I was born to a mother of a different race than I was. I came out looking and acting like my father’s family, much to her disappointment and dismay. It wasn’t long before I realized much of the world would feel the same way.
