ABSTRACT
According to the 1981 Census there are about 750,000 Asian immigrants in Britain: 392,000 from India, 188,000 from Pakistan, 48,000 from Bangladesh, and an estimated 160,000 from East Africa. These figures do not include children born here, who are, of course, British.
