ABSTRACT
This danger opens up before us time and again: the notion that “the British are coming,” the attempt to emulate Hollywood with higher budgets, the eventual self-destruction. The prominent example was the production company Goldcrest: many finely made successes, swelling budgets, and finally the epic Revolution, which led to Goldcrest’s collapse.
