ABSTRACT
Before looking at an example of a new global-wide learning paradigm enabled by computer-based systems, I would like to outline the future goals I believe we should be addressing. Ivan Illich (1971) stated the key challenge:
Our present educational institutions are at the service of the teacher’s goals. The relational structures we need are those which will enable each man to define himself by learning and by contributing to the learning of others.
