ABSTRACT
In this chapter I would like to set out a personal view of the overlap between healthcare workers and the production of stigma through my interfacing with mental health services over a number of years. It is often the case that the social dynamics of such services are highly complex, yet through personal accounts the message that is communicated resonates with many people from all sides of the healthcare divide. This chapter is written from a personal perspective and is highly critical of mental healthcare workers, or at least some of them. I will address issues relating to the stigma of employment, empowerment, mad culture and mad pride, for which I make no apologies.
