ABSTRACT

Colorado is divided into 64 counties. Denver County is unique in the U.S. in that it adjusts its boundaries every ten years to agree with the Denver city limits, absorbing annexations of the intervening years, reducing the land area of the three neighboring counties. In 2001, the City of Broomfield separated from Boulder and Jefferson counties to become Broomfield County, a city-county similar to Denver. Colorado municipalities are classified as towns and cities. There are no townships. See Introduction.
