ABSTRACT

Childhood is a time of growth and almost daily transformation. Likes and dislikes continually shift. Fears develop and subside. Behaviors change and personalities develop. Resilience and the capacity for change are two of the strengths of childhood and are what make this time period one of eternal hope. Perhaps this is why children in therapy seem to progress and heal more rapidly than adults. Their sense of self is beginning to emerge, as is their awareness of the roles they play in relation to the world around them. And they can imagine “how things could be.”
